While the four-day intensive training session marks the culmination of years of preparation initiated by the surveillance services of Czech customs, EUCAB also played a key role in the successful completion of this project. Indeed, the โtraining questionnaireโ – mapping the needs of customs administrations across Europe – highlighted a shared need for training on forced vehicle stops and ensuring the safety of patrols.
20 international participants from 15 EU countries – with Montenegro and Moldova also represented – gathered in Bochoล to deepen their knowledge of the legal, tactical, and operational aspects of stopping vehicles. Using simulated scenarios, participants practiced forcibly stopping a vehicle, using technical braking devices, and coordinating the response of multiple patrols.

โIt wasnโt just about theory – practical training was key, as it tested expertsโ ability to make decisions in high-risk situations,โ explains Maj. Josef Novรกk. head of the professional training instructors, who oversaw the technical aspects with Capt. Roman Graaf, supervision specialist.
However, CLEP workshops are not just about a one-way transfer of know-how.
A major added value is the exchange of experiences among individual customs administrations. Every country has its own procedures, and practical insights are irreplaceable. (Roman Graaf)

If this yearโs participantsโ interest and feedback are any indication, one thing is certain – there would be no shortage of interest in continuing this training format. Participants particularly appreciated its practical focus, the high-quality instruction, and the unique setting of the military airfield in Bochoล.
