Billund, known for its creativity and innovation, set the stage for an important milestone for the European customs community — the first formal EUCAB Steering Committee, hosted by the Danish Customs Agency on October 21st, 2025.
The meeting brought together Directors General from all 27 EU Member States and the European Commission, who reviewed the progress achieved so far and discussed the strategic direction for the future of EUCAB’s work.
Discussions underlined the importance of ensuring the continuity of EUCAB beyond 2026, recognising the initiative’s growing role in strengthening cooperation and preparedness across the Customs Union.
The Steering Committee was presented with EUCAB’s cross-cutting priorities for the next phase of work:
✅ Risk management, ensuring that customs can anticipate and mitigate emerging threats.
✅ Resilience and integrity, enhancing the ability of administrations to adapt, respond, and maintain public trust.
✅ Innovation, promoting new ideas, digital solutions, and knowledge-sharing across borders.
The Steering Committee reviewed the progress achieved by all six EUCAB Units and the Grant Coordinator, acknowledging their joint efforts in building operational structures, developing tools and frameworks, and delivering analyses and initiatives that form the foundation for future cooperation.
The commitment expressed by all Member States confirms that EUCAB has become a key platform for cooperation among customs administrations, fostering shared solutions and reinforcing the Customs Union’s capacity to act as one in an increasingly complex environment.
EUCAB extends its sincere thanks to the Danish Customs Agency for the excellent organisation and warm hospitality in Billund, and to all participants for their engagement, guidance, and trust in the next phase of our collective work.
Together, we are laying the building blocks for a stronger, more connected, and future-ready Customs Union.
