    What are the latest customs control equipment innovations and purchases, adopted by national customs administrations? How can EUCAB contribute to devise common solutions to shared challenges, including possibilities for joint procurement?

    ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ป On December 3 and 4, the EUCAB Procurement Network met in Rฤซga, Latvia, bringing together Member Statesโ€™ customs technical equipment procurement experts.

    Participants agreed that their administrations need high-level equipment and cutting-edge technologies to effectively perform customs duties. They emphasized the importance of EUCAB framework to explore possibilities for joint procurement and shared use of equipment in various areas of customs control.

    As a first step, EUCAB experts presented the ๐—˜๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—œ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—–๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ด๐˜‚๐—ฒ and the ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ that allows network members to exchange technical documentation thus addressing both, work efficiency and security issues.

    Lauris Krivans, Deputy Head of the EUCAB Coordination Unit, emphasized the importance of building trust and cooperation in the equipment innovation field. Harmonizing standards across Member Statesโ€™ customs administrations is key to allow for more targeted joint procurement and co-sharing of equipment.
